With the rise of smartphones and tablets, spending your waiting moments playing games has become the norm. But have you ever though, "Hey, I want to make a game!", only to realize you wouldn't know where to start? Well then, this workshop is for you!

This 4 week workshop will cover the important skills needed to develop games for smartphones and tablets. Using the Unity game engine, a popular tool among professional game developers, our workshop will take you through some fundamental C# programming in order to help you on your way to producing your very own platformer game!

Event Time and Schedule
The Intro to Building Video Games with Unity is a four night workshop. The sessions will be held every Monday night from June 8th to June 29, 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.Â
Hardware Required
- A computer / laptop able to run Unity and a C# code editor
- Access to a Smartphone or Tablet (Android / iOS is recommended)
Software Required
- Unity Free with iOS and/or Android installed OR
- Unity pro (Unity Pro trial is free)
- (Unity is available on PC, Mac, and Linus)
- Android SDK installed (Java installed) AND/OR
- A Mac with XCODE, iOS SDK installed (Required to make an iOS build)
- Visual Studio or MonoDevelop (Comes witn Unity)
Please note: for this workshop, we recommend that all software and operating system languages be in English.
Transportation and Parking
The YMC is very accessible to those traveling via TTC. For those of you who are driving, there is some Public Parking available outside of the facility. The hourly rate is $2.25 on Weekdays. There are also other parking lots throughout the area with various pricing.
Wheelchair Accessibility
The YMC is a wheelchair accessible facility. An elevator is available for visitors.
